Begun... this console war has...

Okay, I'm going to use my rant space to talk about videogames this time. To me, video games are an artform. Personally, they have influenced my life in immeasurable ways. Video games to me are like books. I go to the store and buy one, take it home, and I can enjoy it over and over. However, there are some people who believe that I as a consumer have no right to own anything anymore, even after I pay money for it. This brings me to the main part of my rant.

The X-box must fail. For the continued health of the video game industry and the continued quality of games, this must happen. I have nothing against the X-box personally. I also recognize that it is, in terms of raw processing power specifications, the superior console, but raw power does not a good console make. It all comes down to the games. This is where I have a problem with the X-box. If it were up to Microsoft, they would turn the X-box into a pay-per-play box. If I wanted that, I can go to a video arcade, or to blockbuster and rent a game.

I still break out my old NES and SNES to play some classic games. I like being able to replay the original Final Fantasy or Rockman (ok, megaman to the US public) every once in a while. I couldn't immagine not being able to take out Xenogears and play it every so often as easily as I can take out my copy of "Lord of the Rings" and read it again.

So, I plead with you, in order to preserve the artform that is videogames, do not support the X-box. Go buy a PS2 or a Gamecube (how can you resist that thing... it's just so ... cute!) and get some classic games you can proudly display on your bookcase and pass down to your children... and your children's children... and.. well, you get the idea.

Deathsticks, ha!.....oh, wait that was last week.

Anyway, I'm afraid I can't be as fiery in my rant as Joe this week, though I share in the opinion. But most of the things I'd rant about have followings of loyal fanboys who'd hunt me down for blasphemy and send mean, nasty, poorly spelled flames to my e-mailbox. Take certain pop singers for instance....d'oh, nevermind. I'm afraid.

Anyway, here's page two! Yay! I'm going to point out that page one and page two were originally the same page but it became a bit much for me to pull off and I became cranky and after much crying and whining, Joe finally let me break it up (ok, it wasn't quite like that). I think it works better. I was able to draw bigger frames and have an easier time drawing details on things like cars and buildings. Which brings me to something of a rant. Perspective is evil, EVIL I tell you! Thank you. See you next week.
